Week 1: A Tiny Day in the Jackson Hole Backcountry

A Tiny Day in the Jackson Hole Backcountry

A Tiny Day in the Jackson Hole Backcountry from Tristan Greszko on Vimeo.

This is a video showing the lens-tilt effect, simulated, on various video clips related to a ski lodge. The result really captures a magical quality about winter. The other aspect that gives this effort character is the great remixing of a classic track by Pink Floyd with modern editing and production techniques usually associated with electronica and EDM (electronic dance music). While the video itself is cool, the music just gives it an entirely new dimension and illustrates the importance of music that we often take for granted as members of the audience. The combination of that, the video technique and the editing all form something greater than the sum of the parts and I think that being aware of these techniques and these possibilities is an interesting note on aesthetics that applies to what we can do in IFDM.  Also note that the video was taken using Canon SLR cameras, just as the film Act of Valor was. That’s pretty neat when you think about such results initially coming from relatively affordable cameras rather than DV cameras. Really quite inspiring.
