Week 1: Music for Hypnagogic States

Music for Hypnagogic States

Given that another post showed an image from a dream it seems fitting to share a music project of mine that involves dreams. In the accompanying link you can find music samples along with some imagery that demonstrates what I have in mind. In the annotations (indicated by light circles with an “i”, for info) you can find explanations and background information, as well as imagery. I feel this type of work is useful in the realm of IFDM because it conceptually combines sound and visuals. Additionally, the visuals were created with applications associated with the content of the program, in this case Cinema 4D (although I use 3ds max and Maya now) and ZBrush. Finally, being able to assemble these elements in a cohesive way requires skill with art direction, another ability important in IFDM. In the final image you can see a frame from an animated experiment:

I threw this together to experiment with a couple things, sort of a sketch. Not everything I do is dark but being able to learn how to assemble these things and apply a mood seems like it would be an important part of IFDM.
