Final Project Sketch: Rear window vehicular communication

This is one of the ideas we came up with for our final project. The basic idea is that a driver, using voice command/activation, would be able to relay a message to other drivers via a HUD (head’s up display) from the rear window of the car. For example if you heard something on the radio, or saw debris from a wreck and there was a long line of cars, you could indicate this to drivers behind you by a blinking warning symbol. If the wreck was on the right the signal would be on the right. Or, if another driver let you change lanes you might say thank you. Each driver could have established presets that could then be activated by a single voice command with the following syntax: Sign/Thanks. Or Sign/Warning/Right.

While this is very interesting I can’t help but think of legal issues with distractions, disturbing the peace, bad information, abuse, etc. We shall see how this evolves over the next couple of days and determine if we use this or not.

I made a Facebook group for our final project, you can find it here:
